In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Kerala Public Services Act, 1968 (19 of 1968), read with section 3 thereof, the Government of Kerala hereby make the following rules further to amend the Kerala State and Subordinate Services Rules, 1958, namely:—

 

RULES

 

1. Short title and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Kerala State and Subordinate Services (4th Amendment) Rules, 2020.

(2) They shall come into force at once.

 

2. Amendment of the rules.—In Part I of the Kerala State and Subordinate Services Rules, 1958, in LIST III of the SCHEDULE, under the heading ‘OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES IN THE KERALA STATE’, under the sub-heading “1.Throughout the State”, in item 30, for the words 'and Palisa Perumkollan”, the following symbol and words shall be substituted, namely:—

“ Palisa Perumkollan and Kadachi Kollan”;

Explanatory Note

(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)

 

The Kerala State Commission for Backward Classes has recommended Government to include Kadachi Kollan community as a sub-caste of Viswakarma after Palisa Perumkollan in item 30 of the State List of Other Backward Classes for the purpose of reservation in Public Services. Government have accepted the recommendation of the Commission and issued G.O.(Ms)No.11/2019/BCDD dated 29th June, 2019, to include Kadachi Kollan community as a sub-caste of Viswakarma after Palisa Perumkollan in item 30 of the State list of Other Backward Classes for the purpose of reservation in Public Services. In order to give statutory validity to the above Government Order, Government propose to amend the Kerala State and Subordinate Services Rules, 1958 suitably.

 

The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
